¡Hola Familia y Amigos! This week FLEW by. Probably because my companions and I have literally so much fun together. Hermana Skinner and Hermana Goold are the best. I don't want transfers to come! :,( This week we found 3 investigators and one of them is (was*...I'll get to it) scheduled to get baptized!!! His name is Rafael and he is the sweetest soul. He is so so so good. We gave him a Book of Mormon and during our third lesson the Spirit was SO strong. All three of us felt like we needed to invite Rafael to be baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ. So we did! His baptism is (was*) scheduled for October 3rd butttttttttt last night he went to Mexico.......super sad. His mom passed away due to COVID and he needs to be with his family there. Rafael's life is hard here, so far away from his family, especially with all the crazy things going on. Keep him in your prayers. This email is sort of short and lame but WRITE ME!!! I want to hear about everyone's lives! Thank ...

Elder Gonzalez of the Seventy !!!

¡Hola Familia y Amigos! So this is sorta cool: My comps and I were able to meet Elder Walter F. Gonzalez this week! Don't know how but we were invited to go to the mission office and teach with him, his wife, and President McBeth. It was super cool. He left before we could get a picture so that was a bummer. But anyways, that was a tender mercy during the beginning of the week. The first half of this week was rough. Pero bueno. We have a new investigator! His name is Rafael and he is awesome! We had an appointment with him and the Elders Quorum president and his wife. We talked about the peace and hope that comes from our Savior, Jesus Christ. The Spirit was SO strong. We invited Rafael to pray about our message so we will get to talk to him later this week! Keep him in your prayers! He's the best. COVID regulations are slowly but surely easing up. It's nice to finally start to see a light at the end of the tunnel.  Thank you for the support and prayers. I'm a lucky H...

Happy Labor Day!!! 🇺🇸

Image
¡Hola Familia y Amigos! Currently standing in line at Cafe Rio so today is already a great day. Happy Labor Day everybody! This morning a group of us woke up early and went and hiked Bell's Canyon. It was super funny because we ran into some missionaries from the SLC South mission and one of them happened to be the brother of one of the elders I was hiking with. Cute little family reunion. It felt soooo nice getting outside! Utah is beautiful and with all the trees starting to change color....😍 literally so pretty!!! I love Utah. Our zone leaders came and brought us flowers earlier this week. It was the nicest thing. They were really awkward about it but it was a nice thought hahaha. They were handing them out to women in their ward and had some extras I guess.  We had some great lessons this week. I love these people and having to hand them off to their missionaries STINKS! But, I feel so lucky to have gotten to know them. Especially Armando. He is my favorite. Lots of stu...

Hi Mom!!!

Hi Mom!!! I loveeeeed seeing this email pop up in my inbox and I am SO happy you guys got outside all together! That seriously is such a fun spot. Except the "jump" the cousins and I made looks a lot smaller when Dad stands at the top. All my "gnarly" Gopro videos from that hike are now neatly organized next to my dreams of wanting to be an olympic gymnast.  Seriously though. That hike is so fun and those pics are a crack up. Maggie is such a goof and Lizzy is looks buffer than Michael. She is so toned! You can tell her I said that. Miss that karate kicking girl.  Max is the goodest naughty boy that ever walked the earth and I will never forget how funny it was trying to get him out of the Indian Pools the first time. I think Matt had to dive back in and grab his collar. I'll also never forget the one daddy-daughter campout (the one where Maggie pooped her pants) where we lost Max. Did you know about this??...Maybe I shouldn't bring this up. Anyways, Max w...

La Misión

¡Hola Familia y Amigos! Shoutout to the people who still read these. Grandma and granpa i love you! This week the Spanish elders in Orem dropped off a Book of Mormon to Armando. I am so so so sad we have to hand him off but I know the Spirit will carry the message and Armando will be touched! He already has been. I've seen him change. When we called him this week he was sitting in the park, reading his Book of Mormon. He even had written his name in the front page. Hermana McKin cried happy happy tears. I told him I'd find him after the mission and he said ok. My heart is slowly healing.  We called Fernando a few days ago for our English class and before we could get into our lesson he said, "Remember how you taught me to pray? I've been doing it every night." I felt so dumb because I had completely spaced and forgotten we taught him how to pray! He said he's felt closer to God since he started and wants to eventually teach his son when he "knows how to...

Round THREE

Image
¡Hola Familia y Amigos!  Hermana McKin and Skin are taking on another transfer together!!!........andddddd I'm training again! Hahaha we picked up Hermana Goolde from the mission office today. She's cute. She's from Pennsylvania but also sort of from Virginia so I'm not really sure. But now she's in Utah soooo back to the trio life.  So so so happy to be with Hermana Skinner for another 6 weeks! We seriously have too much fun and normally in the SLCW mission you switch trainers for your last 6 weeks so we were super surprised to be staying together.  This week is morrrreeeee english classes. I actually think I'm starting to forget the alphabet the more I say it. This week we started teaching a woman english and for SOME reason she could NOT (bless her heart) pronounce the letter "L" We kept writing the world "el" on the whiteboard and explained how the two sound exactly the same but she kept saying "ER" After the 6th time, I started...

THINGS! ARE! GOING! TO! GET! BETTER! OK?!

¡Hola Familia y Amigos!   Transfers happen next week and Hermana Skinner and I are not here for it. This transfer was long but to think it's almost over...what?!?!   This last week was also really long. But sweet Elder Pappa from la mision Salta Argentina sent me some scriptures of animo so we are about to tackle this week!!! Shoutout to Elder Pappa! Extraño la MAS!   Basically Hermana Skinner and I taught a lot of English classes. We also had interviews with President Christensen, Zone Council, a hike, and 2 sacrament meetings! It was good to go back to church, even if we have to wait another 3 weeks until our ward meets again.   This week I decided to study "Tomorrow the Lord Will Do Wonders among You" by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland. It's based off of Joshua 3:5 and is sooo good. Exactly what I needed this week. Here are some of the things I love from his talk: the great thing about the gospel is we get credit for  trying,  even if we don’t always suc...
