Transfers!

Image
¡Hola Familia y Amigos!  I am being transferred! My last area will be the Rio Vista Spanish YSA ward! I'm super excited! In the YSA wards we get to use instagram and I'm not quite sure how I feel about that hahaha Trying to think about all the good things that have happened this week. It's all kind of a blur and I have a feeling that's exactly how these next 6 weeks will go. I feel like I just started my training in Argentina....yesterday. But Lighthouse has been such a great experience. I have learned and grown so much. The members and youth are amazing and I will miss cute Judith and her daughters.  I think more than anything, I'm just grateful. Grateful for my companions, my experiences in both Argentina and Utah, the Book of Mormon, and the gentle reminders that God is aware of each one of us. These last 16 months I have been so blessed! And it's not even over yet :) I'm excited to see what's in store for me this next transfer! Alma 29:9 - "I ...

16 Months! Wooohoo!

¡Hola Familia y Amigos! Ok so I have been totally off my email-writing game these last two weeks which stinks because there have been SO MANY MIRACLES! God's hand has been so present these last few weeks and Hermana Jones and I are so lucky to have the chance to be a part of His work in the Lighthouse area right now.  So Judith brought her two daughters to church this week and it was awesome to meet them. One of them is 8 and the other is 11. They are adorable. We gave them a tour of the church and were talking about God when one of the little girls paused and said, "God is a god of miracles because now I am here with my mom." Judith has been here, away from her daughters, for a while and it has been so hard on her. One of the ward members, sweet Hermana Galvez, took Judith and her daughters right under her wing when they walked into church on Sunday. She actually made them move pews in the middle of the meeting so they could go sit next to her. Speaking of church, Ruby...

HELLO!

Image
¡Hola Familia y Amigos! Turns out my email last week didn't send soooo I've got a fair amount of catching up to do. At least for those who actually read my emails ;) love you grandma and grandpa!! LAST week was great! Las hermanas y yo went to Temple Square and it was insane. The Temple is being renovated and everything looks so different. It was cute running into a sister who is assigned to Argentina (waiting to go there) and another sister who was actually from Argentina. I forgot that the Temple Square mission is only sisters hahaha but shoutout to them because they are doing virtual tours of Temple Square right now!!! Go take a tour!  Poor hermana Skinner tested positive for COVID!!! She gets it from her mother ;) but she really has been a trooper. Her quarantine started a few days before the rest of ours ended sooooooo that was sort of a bummer.  Last week I had the coolest opportunity to listen to Elder Neil L. Andersen! He "came" (via videocall) to our missio...

The Positives (other than my COVID test)

¡Hola Familia y Amigos! So I lost my taste and smell this week! You don't realize how depressing that is until it happens hahahaha it's weird though because I can taste when things are salty, sour, or sweet without actually....tasting them. It's wack. I'm not really sure how the science works but what I HAVE learned this week is about a million ways to "cure" COVID, according to every Latino ever. All I really want to know is why COVID hasn't been wiped out when every Latino is out here with the cure! They're not keeping it a secret or anything. Eucalyptus leaves, burnt oranges, 3 lemons mixed with 3 asprins (serious....), crest mouthwash (we got a tutorial on that one. ha...?!), and every tea ever made (Word of Wisdom guidelines of course ;)). I would probably say all of our "lessons" this week were 20% gospel of Jesus Christ and 80% how to cure COVID. I have to be honest and admit that I have tried none of the tips, so I have no right to ...

TENGO COVID/I HAVE COVID

Image
¡Hola Familia y Amigos! This is a weak email....again...but I have an excuse this time :) Yes....I have COVID! We were tested a couple days ago and just got our results! Everyone in the apartment tested positive except for hermana Skinner. We're not really sure how she doesn't have it...I think it's kinda funny I was sent back to the USA because of COVID and now I have it. Lol. Call me immune (in like 10 days)! WE HAD 3 BAPTISMS THIS WEEK! Jose, Lindsay, and Rosie were baptized on Monday. Huge shoutout to the elders for literally helping carry out the whole program and ordinance. We found out we would be quarantined Saturday night so we rushed to re-organize the baptism. It was really beautiful, even though we couldn't be there physically. The Spirit was so strong and you could tell the kids were excited. Now Rubi, the mama, is working towards being baptized. We are so so so excited to keep working with them this transfer. Transfers happened but all the Lighthouse her...

Perfuecto/Feliz Christmas

Image
Hola Familia y Amigos! So this week Spanish whooped my bum and I said "perfuecto" in a lesson. That is not a word. But it was funny.  Feliz Navidad everyone! I hope you are able to remember the purpose of this holiday. Whether you're religious or not, you have a Savior who came into this world to die for you. He makes it possible for each one of us to improve and eventually live with our families forever. There's more to it and if you want to learn about Him and how you can strengthen your relationship with Him, shoot me a message. Or your local missionaries. I'll leave the link below if you would like to search them up.  Jose, Lindsay, and Rosie are being baptized on Monday! Hermana Jones and I are so excited. We fasted with them this week for a miracle and we got one. 100% straight from the Lord. It was probably one of the most spiritual experiences of my mission. Heavenly Father keeps giving me those.  Sort of a cool experience: one Christmas Eve Hermana Jone...

A RAT

¡Hola Familia y Amigos! This is a weak group email. Just to preface hahaha So hermana Jones is fire as always and this week we had the opportunity to give two trainings! It was SO BOMB! Having a comp who knows how to bring in the Spirit is the besssstttt. I love her. Earlier this week we were at the church practicing for the ward christmas program we are in charge of and hermana Jones flipped out because she saw a mouse run out from under a door. So we decided we spend our whole dinner trying to catch the mouse. And we did!!!! Hahaha it was the funniest thing ever. We also rescued some dogs that same day so call me the animal whisperer This week was actually SUPER hard but I love being a missionary. We seriously had some of the most spiritual lessons I have ever had in my mission this week so I will have to write about Yafte de Mexico when I have more time. But anyways, the Church is true. I know it with my WHOLE heart. Missions are the coolest. Here are some other things that ha...
