Oral Hygiene and Eternal Life

Before I get into it, it needs to be known Hermana Skinner makes fun of me for flossing every night.

So Hermana Skinner and I have been doing a cute little activity I learned from one of my previous companions. We use it as an ice breaker/object lesson during our video lessons with families. This week it was pretty funny. We start out by asking everyone to draw a picture of a present they think the person next to them would like. It's pretty fun when little kids are involved because they can get creative. Anyways, this week we did it with a family and when it was our turn to present the drawings Hermana Skinner and I made for each other, I looked down to see what Hermana Skinner had drawn for me. She had drawn a pack of floss and a trip to the dentist's office. Hahahaha serious. The family laughed but you could tell they were sort of confused. Anyways, come to find out I am extremely passionate about oral hygiene AND the gospel of Jesus Christ. 

This week Hermana Skinner and I were invited to organize a Facebook Live for our area page! Our topic was, "For God So Loved The World" from John 3:16! We invited our stake president and his wife to come and speak with us and it was AWESOME! They are the coolest, nicest people. I'll throw the link below if you want to watch it. I know God loves us. We are His literal CHILDREN! He wants to have a relationship with us! Ahhhhh please let Him have a relationship with you!!! 

We helped out and did a service activity this week in West Valley. It was....an experience. I got to use a weed whacker though so I felt pretty good about myself. We were helping clear out an overgrown, weed-infested garden. After 20 or so minutes of whacking down super tall weeds, I looked down and tried to figure out what the weeds were growing out of. They weren't growing out of dirt, but a RUG! This nice old man had laid down a RUG years ago and I guess had forgotten about it. It was so gross hahaha. As we tried to pick up the rug it practically shredded itself, all wet and soggy. So so gross. But, a service opportunity for the missionaries nonetheless :)

Speaking of nice old men, Hermana Skinner and I use Whatsapp to communicate with a lot of the people we teach. Whatsapp is cool because it allows you to do something called a "Broadcast" which is basically a huge group chat, but it delivers to all the recipients separately. It's great and we try and send out uplifting messages every day. Anyways, this last week, we sent out a broadcast inviting people to watch the musical festival the Church recently held. We always finish our message with a question and this time our question was, "What song has helped you grow closer to the Lord?" Sweet, kind, awesome Hugo responded to our question...with a link to the song "True Colors" from the movie "Trolls" Hermana Skinner and I DIED. There's really nothing else to say about that other than I LOVE 70 YEAR OLD HUGO! Bless his heart. Keep him in your prayers.

Another cumplemes down! Now I can say I have been serving for 11 months! Whoop whoop! 

There's more but I forgot. Lots more studying and lots more grinding. This week I studied one of my FAVORITE talks EVER, "As Many As I Love, I Rebuke and Chasten" by D. Todd Christofferson (Rev. 3:19, such a good scripture). So so good. We need to recognize our purpose here is to GROW and LEARN, two things we cannot do without correction and challenges. Often times, that correction comes from God. I think when we understand the nature of God as a loving Heavenly Father, we come to understand that He WANTS to be a part of our lives. What loving parent wouldn't want to be a part of their child's life? Wow I really want to drive this thought home today: GOD LOVES YOU AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO MAKE HIM NOT WANT TO REACH OUT AND HELP YOU TURN YOUR LIFE AROUND!!! JESUS CHRIST, Savior of the WORLD, SUFFERED SO YOU (YOU!) COULD CHANGE AND GROW SO BE GRATEFUL AND ACCEPT HIM IN YOUR LIFE!!! 

Well, I sure love you all. I hope you know that. Grateful to be in the mission, changing and growing everyday!

¡Hola Amigos y Familia! If you know you know. This week went by reallllllyyyyy slow not going to lie. Patience is a virtue....I lack. I'm working on it.  Last week after p-day I had "divisiones" with a Hermana Cappa! There are two Hermana Cappas and they're over the whole Santiago Centro Zone. Hermana V. and I said goodbye for 24 hours to go on splits with the Hermana Cappas. Tender mercy, I was assigned to a gringa! She's actually going home this week so that kind of stunk (#trunky) BUT she was able to answer a lot (and I had a LOT) of questions. We went and did something called a "Tormenta Blanca" which basically means a group of elders and hermanas go to an area and help out the elders or hermanas assigned to that area. We went to an area in my zone called "Frias" which was a 3 hour bus ride away. SO, we woke up at 3:30am to catch the bus and started working right after we stepped off. "Why Are They All White?"

¡Hola Familia y Amigos! So we had a cita with Exequiel this week to teach him more about prophets, temples, etc. All that good stuff. I pulled out a picture of all the general authorities and Exequiel sat there for a sec before saying, "Why are they all white?" It was pretty funny not going to lie. There's a solid amount of general authorities from South America but they all look white so we tried to explain that.  This week was kind of an odd week. Everyday was super overcast and rainy and Hermana Horton and I just kinda felt weird. At least 3 times once a day we'd look at each other and say something like, "Why is today so weird?" I think we were letting the weather get to us because we actually had a VERY productive week. The Sister Training Leaders came over yesterday to verify our weekly planning and they said they've never seen a companionship work so effectively.
