Mission Round TWO!
¡Hola Familia y Amigos!
Just a heads up for those of you who have read this far ;) I can only communicate with friends or extended family through email. It's really sad haha but email me if anything exciting happens!
Made it to Salt Lake on Tuesday! Super far flight haha. It was actually really cool walking through the airport and seeing so many missionaries arriving and departing.Time for round 2!
At the mission office (which is just a part of a church building #utah) I met my mission president and his cute wife, President and Sister McBeth. After that, I met my companions (hay dos!) Hermana Jenkins and Clark. I still am not really sure which one is which hahahaha I'm dead serious I mix up their names ALL the time and feel SO awkward trying to get a glance at their tags. I don't think they've noticed yet which is good. Having two companions is stressful. Anyways, (I THINK) Hermana Clark is from Kansas and she has 7 months in the field. Hermana Jenkins is from California and has 4 months. Weird to think I have 9 and don't quite know what's going on. I thought I was supposed to have the hang of things by now.
Tuesday night all the new reassigned missionaries had this training where we learned how to use our phones with caution and how to not crash the mission cars. I was SO beyond tired just sitting there which is probably why I've lost 3 different phones and lost my driving privileges. Just kidding :) Why are you still reading haha
The SLC West mission is SO different compared to the Salta mission. I really miss Argentina but I know there are things Heavenly Father wants me to learn and experience here in West Jordan. Oh ya hahahaha we're over a stake in West Jordan! Sort of familiar territory :) Technically speaking, we're over the stake with another companionship of elders, but we attend the Spanish speaking ward because we speak Spanish and the elders don't. ACTUALLY, I need to clarify. I THOUGHT I spoke Spanish. I don't know what language the people here speak hahaha not really but kind of. I only understand this lady in our ward who is from Argentina (Frias!!!)
We live in the basement of Familia Gutierrez. They're from Guatamala and are trying to sell their house so I'm not sure how much longer we'll be there. Apparently they've had missionaries living with them for 15 years. Hermano Gutierrez doesn't speak a lot of English and when I met him he asked me if I was from Argentina so I'd say he's probably one of my best friends in the mission haha.
We pretty much wake up, exercise, do our studies, and spend the next 7 or so hours calling people. My new least favorite sound in the world is the sound of our phone ringing while we try to call someone. The sound of my alarm is now #2 on the list. We sort of work in a call center it feels like haha. I got pretty tired of getting sent to voicemail my second or third day here so I decided to get creative. Whenever we get sent to voicemail, there's a little recording that reads off the number we dialed. I give Tiktok all the credit for this idea. I assigned each number a specific dance move so everyone who declines our call has 3 hermanas doing a 10 step dance on the other side of the phone hahaha. I'm pretty lousy at it and hopefully it'll stay that way because that would mean we're out visiting people! I really want covid to go away!!!!!!
The other morning Hermana Clark (? Or maybe it was Jenkins hahaha) came upstairs into the kitchen and told us that no matter how hard she squeezed the egg in her hand, it wouldn't break. She "saw a bodybuilder do it on youtube" so.....ya know....had to try it. Well, it exploded everywhere. Poor Hermana Jenkins was standing too close and had egg splattered all over the blanket she had wrapped around her. Pretty gross comic relief.
Things are different here. Not quite sure how these next 9 months are going to go but I bet they're going to fly. My short 6 in Argentina sure did. It's been pretty funny walking around and seeing places I know, but this time with a missionary badge.
Anyways, love you all! Thanks for the prayers, support, and nice messages on Facebook! Sorry I can't respond haha
