Thats HERMANA McKin To You
¡Hola!
I have been thinking about what I could type in my first email as a missionary since I was assigned my call and it's the craziest thing to think I'm actually sitting down to type it right now!!! Ahhh!!!
Before I get into it please forgive me for my lack of punctuation. These keyboards are weird as heck and I'm getting really tired of having to copy and paste apostrophes.
Also I love you all.
Ok so here's the rundown
Saying goodbye to my family was hard, but not as hard as I expected. Probably because it was 430am and we were all a little delirious. I passed through security, let out a very small but also VERY audible sob ahaha, and then I was good. It was seriously the weirdest thing feeling so calm sitting outside the gate to my flight. Slept my whole first flight. The guy sitting by the window had to ask me TWICE to get up so he could use the bathroom because I was so tired. He might have even touched my shoulder I cant remember haha. When I landed in Dallas I headed over to my next flight and met up with 13 other missionaries. We were the last to board our flight, you know, saying goodbye to america and all, and seriously 2 minutes after everyone was seated and settled the pilot came over the speaker to tell us to get off the flight with all our bags. Something was up with the plane and we had to wait an hour and a half to board another plane. Slept for the majority of that flight too. Man I love the traits I acquired from my dad. I was sitting next to an elder on that flight (who just so happens to be my district leader so that's awkkkk) and snored like a BEAR! I know this because it was in fact my snore that woke me up. Right after I woke up the elder offered me some pretzels the flight attendants had passed out while i was....passed out. I was out of it so I said something like im okay thanks though. I felt like an idiot the rest of the flight. Which was lonnggggg without music or movies. I didnt trust myself to fall asleep again so I just sat there haha
The MTC here is insane. I heard it used to be an LDS high school way back in the day. Dont really know why that was a thing....or in Mexico City but its cool. The MTC is really big so it keeps things from getting boring. My schedule is mapped out to a tee and theres no room to think about anything other than spanish and the gospel. I wake up at 630am and go to bed around 1030pm. My teachers are hilarious and my district is awesome. Hahaha this is such a classic missionary letter lo siento. Today before conference, my district was supposed to have 2 hours of spiritual prep together. Instead we just talked about our first names, favorite movies, and bands. Dont think youre supposed to do that but esta bien.
My companion is Hermana Steed. Seriously the WEIRDEST thing calling everyone elder and hermana. Shes from Utah and is the only member of her family. Huge example to me. We make a good team.
Theres a lottttt more I want to type so Ill try and fit it in on Wednesday when I email again. Thats my pday so write me! Rachel Loveland! So stoked about your mission call! Youll kill it and we can speak spanish....if thats what youre learning.
Love you all!
Hermana McKin
