I'm Dreaming of a White...Halloween?

Image
¡Hola Familia y Amigos! Yesterday's low was 19 degrees so that meant waking up to snow!...and a lot more than I expected for the first one this season. It's been about 18 months since I've seen snow/had a winter so I'm not quite sure how I'll survive the next 5 months haha Hermana Shumway goes home in 3 weeks! Crazy to think we are already halfway through the transfer. Time is flying. This week we had zone conference and it was probably my favorite one yet. The Spirit was so strong.  This week I was studying in Jacob and came across a verse that really caught my attention. It says, "...trusting in the God and the rock of their salvation; wherefore, they became as yet, conquerors of their enemies." I love that! They became conquerors of their enemies by trusting in God! By letting God prevail! It made me think of our prophet's most recent message from this last general conference when he said, " The Lord is gathering those who are willing to let ...

Anybody Want A COVID Test?

Image
¡Hola Familia y Amigos! Here's what happened this week: •took two hermanas to go get tested for COVID! I almost threw up watching them get tested. We'll know their results later this week and if it's positive.....ya girl's getting tested!!!!!!!  •our District Leaders made us rolls! Very kind of them. Didn't know elders knew how to bake... •went to Costco! Glorious place. Probably the closest thing we have to the Celestial Kingdom here on the earth. And the temple of course. •went to the This Is The Place monument! So fun and so cute! I am really grateful for the pioneers and the sacrifices my ancestors made for me. •shared spiritual thoughts with some of my favorite people! Hermana Horton and Aunt Robyn! I love them! ❤ •watched my companion lick a dusty bed frame. Yes. Watched an elder do it too. Gross. •got ANOTHER crock pot! •received two lovely packages from two lovely grandmas •GOT MY BALLOT!!! •played Bohnanza every night with my roomies. I'm starting to ...

Oof. BIG OOF.

¡Hola Familia y Amigos! Oh my heck I was NOT ready for this week! Lots of meetings, waking up early, and driving. The driving part is actually SUPER fun because we have the newest mission car. It's this fancy blue Chevy Equinox and everytime I get into it I feel like I need to go pick up a child from soccer practice. It is a soccer mom car for sure but I am not complaining. I've actually never felt so cool. Hermana Shumway is awesome! It's such a bummer she's "dying" (finishing her mission) this transfer. I have a lot to learn from her. It's nice because while I feel like I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off, she's extremely calm and organized.  We got to go to church this weekend. We split a branch with another companionship of hermanas and it's tiny! Everyone is great though. Also the tradition continues: ya girl's the branch pianist ;) that's 4/4 folks Also breaking news: our neighbors have bed bugs so now the mis...

☆ ONE YEAR ☆

Image
¡Hola Familia y Amigos! Woooohoooo! This last week I hit my YEAR mark! So crazy to think a year ago I was just starting my MTC experience. It feels like yesterday. If you would have told me a year ago that I would end up finishing my mission in SLC, Utah due to a worldwide pandemic which, would also send me (and everyone else) home for 2 months...lol. I'm grateful God knows more than I do and I know He has a plan, an individual plan, for each one of His children.  So this week: Transfers!!! This week was my last week with Hermana Goold and Skinner. We made this super cute, super homemade, video for our area Facebook page to remind people about General Conference and it was so fun. My actress dreams came true for about 59 seconds. Check it out on my FB page :) But yes, TRANSFERS! I am leaving! :'( I'm getting transfered to West Valley to be an STL (Sister Training Leader). I'm hyped for the opportunity to serve and hope that the Lord will be able to use me as an instru...

¡Hola Familia y Amigos! Just stepping in here for two seconds to tell everyone to VOTE! BE A GOOD CITIZEN AND EXERCISE A RIGHT SO MANY PEOPLE FOUGHT FOR YOU TO HAVE. Thank you and amen. This week was good! I wrote my mission president earlier this week and told him that every week goes by quicker than the last. Serious! Transfers happen next week and I am so sad! Hermana Goold and Hermana Skinner have been so fun and I can't wait for everyone to meet them at my wedding lol This week we had the opportunity to go teach Alejandro and Angelina in their home!!! We had previously dropped off some copies of the Book of Mormon at their house and this week we finally had the chance to teach them about it! You could immediately feel the Spirit when you walked into their home. It was so beautiful. They were both really receptive and asked a lot of great questions. Man, questions are so important. Ask questions. We invited them to read 3 Nephi 11, when Christ comes to the Americas after his ...

This is NOT missionary work. This is EVERYBODY work.

¡Hola Familia y Amigos! This week FLEW by. Probably because my companions and I have literally so much fun together. Hermana Skinner and Hermana Goold are the best. I don't want transfers to come! :,( This week we found 3 investigators and one of them is (was*...I'll get to it) scheduled to get baptized!!! His name is Rafael and he is the sweetest soul. He is so so so good. We gave him a Book of Mormon and during our third lesson the Spirit was SO strong. All three of us felt like we needed to invite Rafael to be baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ. So we did! His baptism is (was*) scheduled for October 3rd butttttttttt last night he went to Mexico.......super sad. His mom passed away due to COVID and he needs to be with his family there. Rafael's life is hard here, so far away from his family, especially with all the crazy things going on. Keep him in your prayers. This email is sort of short and lame but WRITE ME!!! I want to hear about everyone's lives! Thank ...

Elder Gonzalez of the Seventy !!!

Image
¡Hola Familia y Amigos! So this is sorta cool: My comps and I were able to meet Elder Walter F. Gonzalez this week! Don't know how but we were invited to go to the mission office and teach with him, his wife, and President McBeth. It was super cool. He left before we could get a picture so that was a bummer. But anyways, that was a tender mercy during the beginning of the week. The first half of this week was rough. Pero bueno. We have a new investigator! His name is Rafael and he is awesome! We had an appointment with him and the Elders Quorum president and his wife. We talked about the peace and hope that comes from our Savior, Jesus Christ. The Spirit was SO strong. We invited Rafael to pray about our message so we will get to talk to him later this week! Keep him in your prayers! He's the best. COVID regulations are slowly but surely easing up. It's nice to finally start to see a light at the end of the tunnel.  Thank you for the support and prayers. I'm a lucky H...
