Do not mix tie dye and whites in the washer

 ¡Hola Familia y Amigos!

"Whites" #iykyk

This week was rough. But a good rough. The kind that makes you grow and laugh because you're thinking, "no this is not really happening" (see subject of email) when in reality, it very much is.

But I'm happy to be here! Life's crazy!

There are lots of things I could throw in this email but I decided that what I really want to do is highlight some of the things I have been asked/told (lol) while serving as missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ. Kinda fun.

1. Do you believe in the Trinity?
As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we believe in the Godhead, or God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost as three separate beings. God is our loving Heavenly Father who sent His son Jesus Christ to the earth to atone for our sins. Both God and Jesus Christ have bodies of flesh and bone while the Holy Ghost does not. The Holy Ghost is a personage of Spirit, who testifies and bears witness of Jesus Christ and God the Father.

2. Personal favorite: We don't need the Book of Mormon. We have the Bible.
I love this one. The Book of Mormon is "Another Testament of Jesus Christ." It serves as a second witness of Jesus Christ along with the Bible, which we also regard as sacred scripture. "It is a record of God's dealings with the ancient inhabitants of the Americas and contains, as does the Bible, the fulness of the everlasting gospel." *See Introduction to the Book of Mormon. The Bible makes reference to the Book of Mormon in Ezekiel 37:15-17 while Jesus Christ himself mentions his "other sheep not of this fold" in John 10:16.
Side note: Read it! Ask God if it is TRUE!

3. Do you worship Joseph Smith?
"No." -Rosa Parks.
We believe Joseph Smith was a prophet, like Moses, Noah, Enoch,...the list goes on and on because God has always called prophets. Joseph Smith restored Christ's New Testament Church on the earth after the death of the apostles and what the Bible refers to as an "apostasy." Read Amos 8:11-12 or 2 Timothy 4:3-4. Because God loves His children, He calls prophets to lead and guide us just like He did in the New and Old Testament, along with the Book of Mormon.

4. God revealed all that he needed to in the Bible. There is no modern-day revelation.
"False." -Dwight Schrute.
We learn in the Bible that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. We also know He loves all of His children equally. For this reason, we continue to receive his guidance and direction through prophets. Aren't you grateful God loves you?
Side note: really thankful for our current prophet Russell M. Nelson!

Anyways, that's just a snippet of some of the things I encounter as a missionary! It's fun. I love being able to testify of the things I KNOW are true. And I know they're true because I followed James' counsel in James 1:5. You should too. If you have any other questions for me, shoot me an email! I seriously love it. Orrrrr you can contact your local missionaries. You can also search your local Facebook page for the Church. It's "The Church of Jesus Christ in _______" We love missionaries! Hahahaha sometimes I see missionaries and get emotional because I LOVE THEM! Woohoo for the gathering of Isreal!

Earlier this week my comps and I had the opportunity to go help deliver over 1,000 service bags to families in West Valley. In the whole state of Utah, West Valley has been hit the hardest during COVID. So much effort went into putting these bags together. It was a pretty emotional experience watching these families open up their bags. From across their driveway of course. When ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God!!!!! Love that.

Had zone conference this week. Weird having it in English. I kept sitting there thinking, "I'm only supposed to be understanding 30% of what's being said right now" but we're not in Argentina anymore soooooo¿ Also, everyone go friend me on Facebook! I think my profile is Katie McKinlay. Let's spread the gospel.

Sort of funny story. There's this elder in my district, bless his heart hahahaha, whose name is Bo. It's a huge joke in our apartment. The ONLY reason I know this is because our district touches base through Facebook and so anytime he sends a message his name pops up on my phone. Elder Bo is great and earlier this week, twice actually, Hermana Jenkins straight up called referred to him as Bo in front of our zone leaders. Right in the middle of a casual conversation. Not supposed to do that. Bo was very confused and Hermana Jenkins was soooooo embarrassed. Facebook has just thrown all of us off. I accidently sent a Cardi B gif to our zone leaders earlier this week soooooo 🤦‍♀️

Friend me on Facebook! Call up your local missionaries and ask them to do service in your yard! Write me an email! Pray and ask God if the Book of Mormon is true! Go to chick fila! All of these things are really important and I can promise they will bring you joy.

Thanks for the support emails and prayers. Love it.

Love love loveeeeee,
Hermana McKinlay
